The Punjab High Court has ordered the release of the mastermind of the Mumbai carnage on 26/11, when 166 people lost their lives. They have termed his detention as 'illegal'. Frankly does this come as a surprise? We knew all along that Pakistan was not keen to prosecute the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack. No way this could have been done as the trials of all the accused is just not proceeding.
Listening to the debate on TV on the Times Channel with Arnab Goswami, one is struck by the pathetic approach of Arnab. What does he want to prove? Why the debate? when the Pakistan government has all along made it clear that they care two hoots for India. The fact is the Modi government is in a bind as the previous governments for last 60 years have treated Pakistan with kid gloves. There is also the case of Kashmir, where faulty policies means giving security cover to men who are pro Pakistan and look for a light in men like Lakhavi.
The fact is Pakistan is hell bent for revenge for the breakup of East Pakistan and as I have pointed in an earlier post, the only solution is another war. It is bound to happen and that will at least lead to a solution.
The release of Lakhvi by itself is an issue but deeper philosophy is involved. There are so many difference that can NEVER be bridged. There is the divide between Hindus and Muslims, the Kashmir issue, terrorism in Pakistan and what not. Wasting time on debates is not at all required. There has to be a urgent realization and a plan to solve the Indo -Pak issue once and for all.
