The Maybach Car, Hitler and German technology

At the end of World War I the treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919. This treaty imposed sanctions on Germany and also dictated that every Zeppelin in existence be transferred to the Allied forces and called for Germany to cease production of the airships. The Zeppelin was powered by an engine manufactured by Maybach. Unable to find a use for his engine Maybach used the Zeppelin engine in his May Bach v12 car. The Debut of the V12
It must first of all be mentioned that only six cars of this particular variant of the Maybach were ever built. This car was a massive machine and was not for every day drives in the city, but something to be used for ceremonial occasions, like inspecting a military guard of honor or for a visiting head of state. This particular model of the Maybach was powered by an engine with 12 cylinders and was referred to as the V12 car. The Maybach Zeppelin was the top Maybach model from 1928 to 1934; it was an enormous luxury vehicle which weighed approximately 6600 lb.
The Car This particular model of the car which was presented by Hitler was cream colored with contrasting maroon colored upholstery. The boot of the car once opened revealed two jump seats for the retainers. The front seated the driver and one passenger, while the rear seat could seat 3 adults in sublime comfort. The car was a veritable monster and gave a mileage of three miles to a gallon of petrol. The engine of this car had 12 cylinders along with some unique innovations. Firstly, it had a massive bonnet that required two men to lift it. Secondly it had what is termed as a “hot” cylinder. Thus, when a driver was cranking the car and the 12 huge cylinders, the amount of current required would drain a normal battery, so the manufacturers had installed a series of batteries. These batteries used to crank up once the engine started.
Last Word The Maybach V12 was presented by Hitler to 3 personages in Africa and India. It was part of his diplomacy, but the car is a legend and one can savor the delight of a bygone age when this car was used to further German interests

Ennio Morricone the Legend and his association with Wild West Themes

Morricone and the Wild West Themes
The great western films of yore directed by Sergio Leone perhaps may not have been that great, but for an excellent musical score by Ennio Morricone. Morricone collaborated with Sergio Leone for most of his films and the immortal ones like How the West was Won, My name is Trinity, Good Bad and Ugly, Fistful of dollars and For a Few dollars more still set the charts ablaze. He set a stupendous musical score that in no small measure contributed to the success of the movies and two of them being rated as among the all time great 100 movies of the last century. Morricone effect
One can even now relish the background score that heightened the scene of 3 macho men as they eye each other in a triangular gun fight (Good bad and ugly) and a young boy who looks through a window to watch a beautiful woman slowly undress and become nude before a mirror (Malena). The effect of these scenes was heightened by the score of Ennio Morricone who was a class mate of Sergio Leone. Sergio died of a heart attack some years back but Morricone is alive and kicking. He has set the the musical score of two latest movies by Giuseppe Torntore: The Best Offer (2013) and Leningrad (2014). He must truly rank as one of the great composers of an era that spans two centuries. Hollywood honoured him with an honorary Oscar award in 2007. Morricone’s Contribution
Morricone composed music for some 40 westerns and with the score of A Fistful of Dollars Morricone began his 10-year collaboration with his childhood friend Alessandro Alessandroni and his Cantori Moderni. These two provided the whistling and the twanging guitar on the film scores, that have become a distinct trademark of Ennio Morricone. It was great integration of music with the film by Morricone Last Word Morricone is a legend and even in Asia he has a tremendous following. I recommend listening to a DVD of his music, it not only soothes, but elevates. The fact that his music has sold 75 million DVD’s is proof that Morricone is a living legend.

Norton Vs Ali: Who was the Greater Boxer?

Legends are made and then they live forever. The recent death of Ken Norton at the age of 70 is the death of one such legend. Norton was suffering for 2 years from a variety of ailments and finally the boxer passed away on 19 September 2013. Norton was different from Ali. Whereas Ali dodged the draft by making incendiary statements like “The Vietcong don’t call me Nigger”. In contrast Norton served in the army from 1963-72. Ali converted to Islam; he was Cassius Clay earlier, while Norton struck to the roots of what he had been brought up as, a Christian.
The fights between Norton and Ali are the stuff legends are made off. In the first bout in 1973, Norton battered Ali and broke his Jaw. This is no mean feat against a boxer of the caliber of Ali, who had won the world heavyweight boxing title 3 times. Ali was confused with the tactics of Norton and lost the fight on points. In two other fights Ali won, but on points though many felt the real winner was Norton. Why, this happened? The fact is that the powers that be in the boxing world had decided that Ali must be champion and thus Norton had to lose. All the same Norton and Foreman are bracketed with Ali. We must bear in mind that if Norton and Foreman were not there would Muhammad Ali be as great? Norton won 33 out his 42 bouts and that is feat by itself. He was ailing during the last 2 years and finally father time took its toll and Norton is no more. But he has done enough to be remembered as a great fighter, a man who broke the Jaw of Ali and almost beat him in subsequent encounters. He packed a vicious punch

The ESI ( Ex-Servicemens Association) Decision to Call of Agitation will not Help

The cat is now out of the bag. The Modi government is not very keen to sanction OROP in its original classical form. I had stated this earlier also. What they would like is to sanction a watered down scheme, despite having announced that One rank One Pension is approved. The Ex-servicemen’s association was to commence an agitation from 3 Dec 2014. This is now postponed on the intercession of a Member of Parliament Mr. Chandrasheker. This MP has promised an audience with the finance and defense Ministers as well as Narendra Modi. How these meetings will help beats my imagination. Again some old fogies who have retired and lost the urge for a battle are going around saying that an agitation will hurt the ex-servicemen’s interest as the government will get annoyed.
Most of the above two lines of thought are so ludicrous that I could die laughing on a bed of nails. Firstly mark my words and that goes for the respected Chairman of the IES. The meetings being arranged by Mr. Chandrasheker with the RM and FM will lead no-where. Even the meeting with Modi will not bring about the desired result as I fail to understand the logic of a meeting with the very authority who approved OROP and then by a sleight of hand decided to sit on it. Secondly, I also do not see how the GOI will be annoyed in case the Ex-servicemen ask for a legitimate demand that has been approved by 2 parliaments. In case the GOI does get annoyed then it should be crystal clear that OROP in its classical form will NEVER be sanctioned. This is the sad truth. With RM and FM making statements that there is 'lack of clarity’ in the concept of OROP, I am afraid it shows that the Modi government has no honest intention to sanction OROP as understood by the rank and file. I do recollect that the FM (Mr. Jaitley) when he was the DM in a meeting asking the stake holders to "tone down" the demand of OROP.
Nothing was won without a fight and the ESI will be doing a grave injustice to thousands of retired personnel by playing into the hands of government representatives and postponing the agitation. I have stated earlier also that the until action is taken by the COAS, nothing will happen. If the only and strongest organized force in the country can't get a simple demand passed, then I wonder what is there in the future except to accept some watered down scheme by Modi. I am afraid his statement like OROP is "dear to his heart" etc. are just hollow statements.

America and its Troubled Soul: Racism has Not Gone away

There was a time when the KKK and other white supremist organizations routinely hanged Negroes. Some timse this degenerated into a great entertainment and special shows were organized. The black man also worked as a slave and the black women slept with the white owners while the men were in many cases chained at night. Has anything changed? Yes, slavery is abolished and the black man given the right to vote. But there is a big but. The mindset of the white man has not changed, at least for many of them. For them the Afro-American is still a menial or sub-human who does not deserve a better treatment. I can see no other reason for the police to shoot dead an unarmed negro and in another case a young 12 year old boy brandishing a toy pistol. These killings show that the mindset of the white as articulated by the predominenet white police force has not changed. Slavery may have gone, but the the thinking that blacks are sub humans has not gone. This has created a vicious circle. Opportunities for the black are limited and thus the black man is more prone to crime. No wonder 60% of all prisoners are black. America has not exorcised the ghost of slaavery and the recent killings show that the white man has as yet not accepted the Black as his equal.

Pablo Picasso Loved Younger Women and his Genius Flowered: This What Tantra Says

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso is one of the all-time great painters. He died in 1972 at the age of 91.One aspect of Picasso stands out as distinct from his life as an artist, though in the final analysis perhaps both merge. I am referring to his love affair with girls and women who were considerably younger than him, some as old as his granddaughter. Picasso had some glorious love affairs and now we know that at each phase of his career he needed a younger woman. This woman not only adorned his bed and studio, but was his inspiration as well. Pablo painted all his muses in the nude and the paintings are a living testimony that he was also a great lover.
The First Brush-Marie Therese Walter
Picasso had his first brush with a girl 29 years his junior in 1927. She was Marie-Thérèse Walter; the relationship lasted 10 years and resulted in a number of paintings including the famous “Love, Leaves and Bust’, which he painted in 1932. Marie was 17 when she met Picasso and he was 46. He fathered a daughter May from Marie
. Dora Maar Another woman who entered his life was Dora Maar. He met her in 1936 and she was 26 years his younger. He painted another immortal painting ‘Dora Maar au Chat’ with his muse sitting on a chair.

In 1943 Picasso met a 21 year old girl named Francoise. She was 41 years younger than Picasso and he soon moved in with her. Francoise bore him 2 children. His love life took another turn when he was 70 and in 1951 took another girl as his love. She was Geneviève Laporte and she was 46 years younger than Picasso. This affair with a girl old enough to be his granddaughter was kept under wraps to avoid a scandal. She left him in 1953 and Picasso was heartbroken.
The Final Brush – Jacqueline Roque He had his second marriage with another girl in 1961. She was Jacqueline Roque, an exotic-looking 27-year-old. She remained with him till his death. Picasso painted hundreds of paintings of his women that have outlived him.

Tantra Theory and Picasso ? He thus unwittingly proved the Hindu Tantra theory as relevant. Tantra says that sex with a younger woman rejuvenates a man. One wonders whether Picasso unwittingly believed in the adage that sex and relationship with a younger woman rejuvenates a man and he lives longer. In the case of Picasso, perhaps his creativity can be traced to the inspiration he received from his women loves, some of who were very young.
