" The Lustful Turk" by Anonymous is great Erotic Literature; Not to be Missed

Must Read “The Lustful Turk” by Anonymous as it opens an erotic world of the 19th Century

Background
The Lustful Turk" is a lovely erotic book attributed to an anonymous writer. The book was first published anonymously in 1828 by John Benjamin Brookes and reprinted by William Dugdale( 1800-1868). Incidentally Dugdale  was a sort of revolutionary, who had the courage to publish erotic books and for this was sent to jail many time. He died when he was incarcerated at the Clerkenwell house of correction in 1868
The  Basis of the Story
The story matches the famous “Night in a Moorish Harem" and once you start you cannot put it down. The story is set in the 19th century when the white slave trade was on and the Arab Sheikhs desired golden and fair colored European virgins for their harems. Woe, betide a man who did not bring a true virgin replete with hymen for the Arab Beys and Sultans.

The Plot

The story concerns two white girls who are kidnapped and incorporated into the Beys harem. They win his confidence and rise up in the hierarchy of the harem. The book is simply lovely to read and I wonder who wrote it. It is obviously written in the 19th century like "Venus in India ".
The author has followed a unique method of narration, which is through letters from the Heroine Emily Barlow to her friend Sylvia Carey. The story starts when Emily sails from England to India and her ship is captured by Moslem pirates and she is taken to Ali, the Dey of Algiers. He rapes her but awakens untold desires in her bosom.
Later Ali arranges becomes enamored of Sylvia and gets her abducted.  He follows a terrific charade as he puts her up for auction in the slave market and as per plan rescues her and wins her love. Ali now loves both girls and the descriptions are about the best I have read.
The End

The novel also incorporates interpolated stories concerning the erotic misadventures of three other girls. The ruler(Ali’s) member is cut with a knife by a slave girl and  a chastised Ali sends the girls back to England.

My 3 most Erotic Books in English

A Selection of English Erotica Erotica is also recognized as art, only its genre is different. Many books with erotica as the theme have been part of the literary world for many decades, even centuries. The list is varied and includes names like Fanny Hill, Kamasutra, Night in a Moorish Harem, Madam Bovary and the books by Henry Miller and DH Lawrence. However my three most erotic books are The Lustful Turk (anonymous), Night in a Moorish Harem and Sheikh Nefzawi the Perfumed Garden. It is a matter of chance that all the 3 books have a setting with a Moslem background, but that cannot be helped.
The lustful Turk is a wonderful book and once the reader starts reading it, perhaps it will be difficult for him to put it down. The book is from the pre-victorian era and was first published by John Benjamin Brookes in 1828, but in 1857 the book was reprinted by William Dugdal and he ended up being prosecuted by Lord Chief Justice Campbell for obscenity. The story concerns the life in the Harem of the Bey a ruler in North Africa. The book is in the form of letters from one of the women in the Harem to her friend. The book is interpolated with some sub plots and stories but all are firmly integrated with the theme of the Bey and his exploits in his harem. The Ruler, who is a Moslem, is an insatiable lover who treats the art of love and sex as a religion. The book makes excellent reading and I will rate it as one of the best books with the theme of erotica The next book in my list is Night in a Moorish harem.
The story by George Herbert is a simple tale of sex and adventure. It is the tale of an English sailor who by a quirk of fate lands in Moorish harem, when his ship runs aground nearby. There he spends an entire night in rare transports of love and sex. The ladies of the harem are greatly gratified by the prowess of the sailor who satisfies most of the sex starved ladies in the harem. The prose of the book is a bit archaic, still makes pleasant reading. My last choice is not a work of fiction but a sex manual again from the Moslem world.
The book the Perfumed Garden written by Sheikh Nefzawi on the orders of the ruler of a Moslem state is however interspersed with a set of delightful tales of extreme erotic content. The stories in the Perfumed Garden are the piece de resistance of the book and one can even read them directly with out reference to the other parts of the book. The book is in Arabic but was translated by Sir Richard Burton and first published in 1886. Any man can have his own choice of erotic books, but the above 3 are certainly a class apart and sure to titillate any reader. More important they have stood the test of time and can be classified as literature in the real sense. These books are definitely not pornography, which again is a different genre all together.

Books That Please: ‘The French Lieutenants Woman’ and ‘Venus in India’

I have always been fond of reading. I remember the famous quote ’Reading Maketh a full man’, though off hand I cannot recollect who said it. I think it was Francis Bacon. Over the years two books have pleased me no end. That they have erotic content is beside the point. Both novels show case the period of the 19th century, often referred to as the Victorian age, when sex was talked off in hushed whispers. “Venus in India” by Charles Devereaux is the older book and concerns the exploits of an army officer in India. The man is a great lover and the book recounts his amorous adventures as he goes about seducing women and girls in the army cantonments in the North West Frontier.
The second book “The French Lieutenants Woman”is a more recent book by British writer John Fowles. It is a lovely love story which Fowles wrote, but he set the scenario in Victorian England. Incidentally this book has been recognized as one of the best books of the last century. Both books are wonderful to read. “Venus in India “is a straight forward narrative, but it brings the picture of British rule in India in the 18th century to the reader. The encounters of the Army captain with 3 sisters is the highlight and it makes wonderful reading.
John Fowles book is more philosophical and is a wonderful delineation of a romance in the 19th century England. The hero who is engaged, sees a forlorn woman while having a walk with his fiancée. Everybody claims she is a woman of loose morals, but he falls in love and discovers she is a virgin. This is the foundation of a lovely tale.
