Glory to Dubai: New Hindu Temple

Dubai continues to surprise me, it must be the most cosmopolitan and people-friendly city in the world. On a recent visit to the Gurudwara at Jebel Ali, I was pleasantly surprised that a lovely Hindu Temple has come up on the adjacent plot. The trademark Shiva domes attracted my attention and on inquiry, I was told the temple will open soon and 9 icons of Hindu gods would be consecrated.

The temple is a beautiful construction and credit for this must go to the government of the UAE and in particular the ruling Maktoum family of Dubai. Dubai's approach is in stark contrast to Pakistan where a Hindu temple was not allowed to be constructed in Rawalpindi and construction is stopped. Dubai is an example of tolerance and the best example of secular Islam. it's my 15th visit here and I will continue to come. Along with religious places, the city offers excellent eateries and entertainment spots that rival the best in the world, including Las Vegas. It a wonderful place for a holiday and I give it 5 stars.
