Mustang is launched in India by Ford: its a Muscle Car

Mustang is launched in India by Ford

America has produced some excellent tracing cars, which are not too pricey. One such car is the Ford Mustang an 8 cylinder car. The car was launched on the road in 1962 and immediately caught the imagination of enthusiasts. Ford motor company is a legendary car company that traces it's pedigree to Henry Ford, the man who launched the commercial model of the motor car.

The car model in a sense is dated, but there have been periodic upgrades. Despite this, the car is extremely popular. It is a wonder why the car was not introduced in India by Ford, but that lacuna is fulfilled with its introduction in the Indian market. The Mustang is named after a racing breed of a horse and lives up to its name. The car comes only in a two-door model. It may have a retractable roof as well. The car is launched at a price of Rs 90 lakhs in Bombay, which is not too steep considering that the Porch and Ferrari can touch Rs 2 crores.

I have owned a Mustang in the UAE and it's a swell car. It races to 200 km an hour in no time and I could do the Abu Dhabi -Dubai run under 2 hours. One advantage was the road. Maybe similar roads will not be available in India, where the concept of the autobahn has not caught on.The Ford Mustang is a 6 or 8 cylinder car with an engine that develops nearly 400 BHP. However it's;s not frugal as far as gas consumption is concerned and does,5/6 km on a liter of gas. There is no diesel version though about 5 variants of the petrol model are available. In India, only one model is launched.

The coupe comes in two versions with a hardtop and a soft top. The soft-top version has a retractable canvas roof. It';s a real pleasure to retract the roof and belt forward at 150 km an hour. The car has automatic climate control as well as a six-speed automatic gearbox. I am not aware of a manual gearbox. The Mustang lives up to its name and image as a beefy sports car. The car's only drawback is the 2 rear seats which can only be accessed by folding the front seat. The seats are low and a little difficult for older citizens. All said and done the Mustang is an asset on Indian roads for Indian motor enthusiasts.
