Muslim actresses from Mumbai have carved a niche for themselves in the world of cinema and for them, rhetoric has no meaning. A STRING of stars from Zeenat Aman to Nargis Fakhri have worn the bikini. It is important to remember that it is only in India these actresses can live the way they live with their living style. That is perhaps the reason that in 1947 none of the top Muslim actresses went to Pakistan; obviously, they didn't want to go into a shroud.

Shall we say this is an excellent example of secularism in India and maybe Pakistan and some other countries can learn from it.

A point to note; Muslims are 12% of India's population but they dominate Bollywood where they represent more than 50% of the top stars and directors.

Stalin a Great Leader?

There are many allegations leveled against Joseph Stalin some of these are true but they definitely have a background. The important thing to remember about Stalin is that in the final analysis, he raised the Russian state from an agrarian environment to industrial power. One of the criticisms leveled against Stalin is that he did not send his condolences on the death of Gandhi. The reason is simple he did not approve of the policy of non-violence and ahimsa initiated by Gandhi. Secondly, we must remember that millions of Indians were also happy that Gandhi was killed and that was the reason Godse shot him dead for his policy of appeasement. 

 The Katyn massacre is also held against him. It is true but you have to see from Stalin’s point of view. He was out to make Russia a superpower and control Poland and so he let the free officers be killed. It was a game of power. Stalin got Trotsky killed but mind you, had Trotsky got the chance he would have got Stalin killed. Trotsky set up the concentration camps under Lenin and he was also responsible for the murder of Tsar Nicholas II and his family. We must focus on the fact that Stalin raised Russia from an agrarian society to advanced military power to rival the US. He did commit atrocities but then if he had not kept discipline Russia would not have come up as it is now. It is sad that Gorbachev frittered away everything Stalin had built. Stalin’s personal life is a mess but that is outside the purview of his achievement. He was definitely a great leader.

Joe Biden Cooks the American Goose

When Aurangzeb the last great mogul died, he left behind a massive empire but his son Bahadur Shah was incompetent and the empire disintegrated in three decades. In my view, Joe Biden is the Bhadur Shah of America. 

As far as confronting China is concerned Biden has one arm tied behind his back. He has no military allies of any standing. Let's look at them. Firstly, Japan no great shakes as a military power and with a Navy which is just about 10% of the Chinese navy. Second, Australia is again no great shakes in the realm of military power. It can do nothing. The third ally Biden is counting is India but the Indian leadership is weak and is itself in awe of China and doesn't want to entangle with them. I don't think quad or no quad that Modi is going to fight China for the USA. As far as the West is concerned France is too independent and will not join America and Great Britain is now Little Britain. it's got no military strength at all and you can't expect it to do much with an army of 80,000. 

So what are America's options? zero. I know he's compromising on all issues and he is going to sink America by not attacking at least Iran and finishing the nuclear reactors. Johnson did a similar mistake in 1964 when he failed to attack the Chinese nuclear reactors when China was a pussycat and there was a Russo- Chinese conflict. Look what happened. Again Biden has been putting pressure on Israel without realizing that the real danger in the Middle East is not Israel but Hamas and he is doing nothing about it. I am convinced that Joe Biden has cooked the American goose, I do not know how it is going to taste

Why can't India manufacture bullet trains?

I have flown Supersonics and I can tell you that India cannot manufacture a 5th generation fighter jet. Similarly, India does not have the technology nor the money to back R & D to manufacturing bullet trains. It actually boils down to politics and that is the bane of India as a democracy of the west minister type selected by Nehru and Gandhi is not relevant to the Indian context.

The basic components are the avionics and the power plant which have to be tested in a wind tunnel. India just has no expertise in this field and even if India starts now it will be at least two decades behind China and Japan and the technology which we will produce will be obsolete. 

The problem with India is that in 1948 India had a more advanced basic industry than China where not even a bicycle was made but China by building infrastructure and basic ingredients of science has taken a lead and the bullet train and the fifth generation Fighter the Chengdu is Chinese achievement. India will have to thank Pandit Nehru for being the laggard in the world. What next?
